organisms are implicated as serious causes of infections in humans .they are
widely distributed in nature and are associated with variety of infections in
man , like wound infections and urinary tract infections.
Characteristics of Proteus:
- Gram-negative
rods.
- Facultative
anaerobic.
- Lactose
non-fermenter,oxidase-negative.
- Produce
the enzyme , phenylalanine dreaminess.
- Very
motile & produce swarming growth on blood agar
- Produce
the enzyme , urease’
