Gram positive cocci
Staphylococcus:
Organisms belonging to the genus: Staphylococcus are gram positive spherical cells.
Usually
arranged in grape like clusters .they are capable of growing on ordinary media
and produce white or golden yellow colonies, All produce cataloes and some
species are highly pathogenic while others are not.
Classification:
A.On the basis of
coagulates production:
Staphylococci Two types:
1.Coagulates
positive 2.Coagulates negative
-S. aurous. –S.epidermidis
-S .saprophytic us.
B. On
the basis of pigment production:
Sraphylococci
Two types:
1.Pigment producing 2.Non
–pigment producting
-S. suprophytieus.
Pigment producing three types:
1.Golden yellow
colonies. a.-S.aureus
2.White colonies a.-S.albus
3.Lemon yellow colonice a.-S.citreus
