Classification of bacteria on the basis of their morphology
Bacteria three types :
1.True bacteria
2.Spirochetes
3.Filamentous bacteria
1.True
bacteria for types :
a.Cocci
b.Vibrio
c.Spirilla
d.Bacillus
Cocci two types :
1.Gram
positive 2.Gram
negative
·Staphylococci * Neisseria
·Streptococci.
Bacillus three types:
1.Gram
positive 2. Acid 3. Gram negative
·Gram positive two types:
1.Spore
forming 2.Non –spore forming
Gram positive bacteria:
Bacteria that retain the crystal violet color after
decolorizing by alcohol, they stain dark purple.
Examples:
Some gram positive cocci:
-
Staphylococcus aureus
-
Streptococcus
progenies
-
Streptococcus
pneunomonia
-
Streptococcus bovis
-
Abiotrophia adiacens
Some gram positive bacilli:
-
Corynebacterium
diptheriae
-
Clostridium species
-
Bacillus cereus
-
Lactobacillus species
Gram negative bacteria:
Bacteria that lose the crystal violet colour after
decolorizing by alcohol, they stain pink after treatment with safranin.
Examples:
some gram negative cocci:
-
Neisseria gonorrhoeae
-
Neisseria meningitides
-
Moraxella catarrhalis
Some Gram negative bacilli:
-
Salmonella typhi
-
Shigella spp.
-
E,coli.
-
Helicobacter pylori.
-
Morganella morganii
-
Enterobacter cloacae
